Well, Thanksgiving 2017 is officially behind us and now we look toward the Christmas holiday. There's so much going on around the Columbus Ohio area this December that I'm sure you're bound to do at least one or two of these events. Are some of my favorite things never to miss around the holiday season.
Dickens Victorian Christmas. Located in Cambridge through January 2, travel back to life in the 1850s. There are over 180 life-size figures depicting scenes from a Dickens Christmas Carol. This is really a unique sight to see.
Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and aquarium. Really cover everything that will stand still with lights. There are millions of lights and this event is either free to members or just the price of admission to the zoo. It's open now through the end of the year but closed on December 24 and 25th.
At the Alum Creek State Park is the Butch Bando's Fantasy of Lights. Over 1 million lights and over 100 displays either for your enjoyment as you drive one and half miles through the park. It's open Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Friday and Saturdays from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Prices are between $20 and $30 per car depending on when you go.
Photos with Santa at Easton Town Center. This has been known as one of the best photo opportunities with Santa anywhere in the Columbus area. You don't even have to stand in line. Sign in with Santa's helpers and you'll be on a virtual line. Just 10 minutes before your time with Santa you'll receive a text to meet up with an elf to take a fabulous picture. Enjoy the lights, shopping, or even a carriage ride at the Easton town Center while you wait.
Columbus Winter Fair December 1 – 3 is located at the Ohio Expo Center featuring over 400 artists from across the country. This is a great time to get in some of those unique Christmas gifts this year.
The Holiday Festival in Powell is always a fun event on December 2 from a 2 PM to 5:30 PM at the Village Green Park and municipal building in downtown. There will be a tree lighting ceremony at 6 PM, Santa, trolley rides, vendors and more.
The Nutcracker at the Met. This beautiful tradition is running December 8 through the 24th and tickets typically go fast. They range from $49-$100 depending on the seat and group pricing is available so reserve early.
These are just some of our favorite things to do around the Columbus area. Where your favorite Christmas or holiday events? I'd love to hear them. - Originally posted on Linkedin
